2017 Tuscarawas SWCD Coloring Contest

The Tuscarawas Soil and Water Conservation District is pleased to annouce its annual coloring contest. The theme for the 2017 Tuscarawas SWCD coloring contest is "Healthy Soils are Full of Life".
The Tuscarawas SWCD Coloring Contest is open to ages 5-7 students living in Tuscarawas County. The first place winner will be awarded a $25 Gift card. The artist of the second place poster will receive a $15 gift card. Anyone interested may contact the Tuscarawas Soil and Water Conservation District office located at 85 E. Iron Ave., Dover OH or call 330-339-7976 for additional information. Deadline for submission is Oct 6, 2017 to our office by 4 pm. 74th Annual Meeting
November 2, 2017 - 6PM
The Tuscarawas SWCD will be hosting their 74th Annual Meeting at the St. John's Church of Christ in Dover, OH (409 N Wooster Ave). The meeting will begin at 5:15PM with the election of Board of Supervisors, voting will conclude at 6:15pm. Dinner will be at 6:00PM.
Dinner Tickets are $TBD per person (children under 4 eat free). Tickets may be purchased at our office from 7:30-4:00 Monday through Friday. Please call 330-339-7976 or stop at our office at 85 E. Iron Ave., Dover OH 44622.

2017 Tuscarawas SWCD Scholarship
Applications must be received by 4:00pm on May 2, 2016
The Tuscarawas Soil & Water Conservation District is pleased to announce that it is offering a $500 scholarship to assist graduating seniors with the pursuit of a college, university or technical school degree. The applicant must be a Tuscarawas County resident or graduating from a Tuscarawas County High School. Applicants for the scholarship need to be pursuing a degree in the fields of Agriculture or Conservation of Natural Resources. Examples of some eligible degrees include Ag Engineering, Aquatic Ecology, Biological Sciences, Conservation Planning, Environmental Science, Forestry, Soils, Turf or Wildlife management.

Iron Ave, Dover OH between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Check in your high school guidance office for an application . The deadline for application submission is May 5, 2017. Promoting Cover Crops through Grant Program

2016 Tuscarawas Soil & Water Conservation District Cover Crop Program Cover crops are a conservation priority, due to the potential of erosion and sediment loading from corn silage and soybean fields. The Tuscarawas SWCD is sponsoring the following program: • Cover Crops • No-till drills are available for rent from Tuscarawas SWCD • 200 acre cap per participant based on a ranking system • $12.00 / acre cost share available • Applications available on our website: www.tuscsoil.com or by calling our office at 330 339-7976. • This program is open to Tuscarawas County participants and acreage must be within Tuscarawas County. • Sign up is now through June 15, 2016. Ag in the City 2017
Friday, June 9, 2017
It’s time to experience a day on the farm with your family! The event will be held Friday, June 9 from 5pm – 8:30pm at Tuscora Park in New Philadelphia. Numerous children’s activities will be on site including a Face Painting, All-A-Flutter Butterfly Exhibit, an Archery Activity, and many more. There will be a food stand provided. Educational displays will include Tuscarawas County Beekeepers, Farm Bureau, Forestry and many others. Please read our newsletter for more details
The committee is comprised of representatives from the following agencies: Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau, Tuscarawas Soil and Water Conservation District, Farm Credit, OSU Extension, Agland Co-op, and many community members. Our goal is to showcase agriculture and the families that make it all happen. We strive to connect farmers with the public and provide a personal experience for learning and fellowship.
