2019 Tuscarawas SWCD Coloring Contest

The Tuscarawas Soil and Water Conservation District is pleased to annouce its annual coloring contest. The theme for the 2019 Tuscarawas SWCD coloring contest is "Life in the soil: Dig Deeper".
The Tuscarawas SWCD Coloring Contest is open to ages 5-7 students living in Tuscarawas County. The first place winner will be awarded a $25 Gift card. The artist of the second place poster will receive a $15 gift card. Anyone interested may contact the Tuscarawas Soil and Water Conservation District office located at 85 E. Iron Ave., Dover OH or call 330-339-7976 for additional information. Deadline for submission is Oct 4, 2019 to our office by 4 pm. 76th Annual Meeting
November 14, 2019 - 6PM
The Tuscarawas SWCD will be hosting their 76th Annual Meeting at the Union Hill United Methodist Church in Sugarcreek, OH (7877 Union Hill Rd NW). The meeting will begin at 5:15PM with the election of Board of Supervisors, voting will conclude at 6:15pm. Dinner will be at 6:00PM.
Dinner Tickets are $13.00 per adult; $6.50 per child 5-12 years-old; Free for 0-4 years-old. Tickets may be purchased at our office from 7:30-4:00 Monday through Friday. Please call 330-339-7976 or stop at our office at 85 E. Iron Ave., Dover OH 44622.

2019 Tuscarawas Soil & Water Conservation District Cover Crop Program
Cover crops are a conservation priority, due to the potential of erosion and sediment loading from corn silage and soybean fields.
Tuscarawas SWCD is sponsoring the following program:
• Cover Crops
• No-till drills are available for rent from Tuscarawas SWCD
• 200 acre cap per participant based on a ranking system
• $12.00 / acre cost share available
• Applications are available on our website: www.tuscsoil.com or by calling our office at 330 339-7976.
• This program is open to Tuscarawas County participants and acreage must be within Tuscarawas County.
• Sign up is now through July 5, 2019.

It’s time to experience a day on the farm with your family! The event will be held Friday, June 14 from 5pm – 8:30pm at Tuscora Park in New Philadelphia. Numerous children’s activities will be on site including a Face Painting, All-A-Flutter Butterfly Exhibit, and many more. There will be a food stand provided. Educational displays will include Tuscarawas County Beekeepers, Farm Bureau, Forestry and many others. Please read our newsletter for more details
The committee is comprised of representatives from the following agencies: Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau, Tuscarawas Soil and Water Conservation District, Farm Credit, OSU Extension, Heritage Co-op, and many community members. Our goal is to showcase agriculture and the families that make it all happen. We strive to connect farmers with the public and provide a personal experience for learning and fellowship. 2019 Manure Science Review

The Manure Science Review will be held August 7, 2019 at JIMITA Holsteins in Strasburg, OH. The event will offer expert-led educational sessions, field demonstrations, and a tour of commercial compost producer Bull Country Compost in nearby Dundee, OH.
